Undead Soldiers

So here's a theme that crops up in a lot of anime: Our hero is dead. But some babe has brought him back to like and acts like she owns the guy. He considers this a burden, but there are perks, like incredible power, and an infinitely prolonged lifespan. On the downside, he's dead, and he never gets the babe.

Four examples leap to mind. The recently started High School DxD, The slightly less recent Kore wa Zombie desu ka?, The terrible "Princess Resurrection/Monster Princess" reviewed below, and when I remembered the ancient 3x3 Eyes, I realized this has been going on for a very long time. The question becomes, how many others can you think of?

1 Yuji in Shakugan no Shana certainly fits the bill.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head though.

2 I was just reading the new season  reviews at animenewsnetwork.com and it sounds like Kaito from Ano Nattsu de Matteru is in the Near Miss category, since as far as we know, he is merely "Healed" by the alien girl who injures him on arrival.

By THAT measure, Senkawa from Birdy the Mighty might also count.

3 Ah, yes.  Same thing happened to Kazuto from UFO Princess Valkyrie.

4 There was a 1981 movie called Makai Tensho (Samurai Resurrection) in which Jubei Yagyu fights the heretical Christian leader who claimed to be Jesus, Shiro Amakusa. The fictional Amakusa sells his soul and gains the power to bring dead samurai back to life as some kind of undead; this include's Jubei's father. I gather this movie was pretty popular, but I don't know if the meme started there.

5 Keita in KuroKami (Black God) finds himself in a similar situation.

7 Well, I've been checking with some other sources, and two additional ones come up.  Blade of the Immortal, and for a gender-swap of this trope, Corpse Princess.
